Social Fabric - Newlyn Gallery and the Exchange

Social Fabric is an exhibition of textile-based art showing across both venues, presenting the work of contemporary female artists whose practices revalue old wisdoms and techniques using traditional textile skills with fresh perspectives.

At the heart of this exhibition is The Workroom. Inspired by the Newlyn Industrial Needlework Classes of the 1890s, it will actively seek to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to produce objects of utility, comfort, and warmth.

Amy Brock-Morgan will be hosting a Saturday of repair workshops, where participants can learn the art of knitwear darning or sashiko denim repairs. Reviving old items back into wardrobe favourites.
